Alvin
Cullem York was a plain, backwoodsman from Tennesee who's Christian
character used to be proudly taught in the schools of our land. York
became a celebrated WWI hero after single-handedly accomplished the
"impossible" feat of capturing 30+ entrenched German machine gun nests
& over 130 prisoners, in addition to killing about 25 German
soldiers. When asked how he managed to do it without so much as a
scratch, York replied, "Well, I reckon th'Good Lord was a-protectin'
me."
